Tbilisi







The Tbilisi Holy Trinity Cathedral commonly known as Sameba is the main Georgian Orthodox Christian cathedral, located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Constructed between 1995 and 2004, it is the largest religious building not only in Georgia but in the region of South Caucasus, and is listed among the largest Orthodox churches in the world.

Tbilisi had been famous for the sulfur bath houses since the ancient time, even at present in the modern city of Tbilisi, in old Seidabadi  the bath houses of the 17th and 18th centuries, constructed under the influence of the Islamic architecture  proudly prop themselves up. The most of them are located at the start of the botanical garden rising. Due to this  fact the very place is called Abnotubani ( bath house district).

Narikala is an ancient fortress overlooking Tbilisi. consists of two walled sections on a steep hill between the sulphur baths and the botanical gardens of Tbilisi. On the lower court there is the recently restored St Nicholas church.
